Settings explained

This page maps the main app settings to what they do in practice.

Appearance

  • Theme mode: follow system, or force light/dark.
  • Theme style / palette: changes color style and surface tone.
  • Language: follow system, English, or Simplified Chinese.

Security

  • Auto lock: requires app unlock before reading content.
  • System unlock (platform-dependent):
    • Mobile: biometric unlock
    • Desktop: Touch ID / Windows Hello (where available)
  • Lock now: immediately returns to unlock screen.

Intelligence (Ask AI / search / media)

  • Ask AI source: Auto, SecondLoop Cloud, or BYOK.
  • Embeddings source: Auto, Cloud, BYOK, or Local runtime.
  • Media understanding source: Auto, Cloud, BYOK, or Local capabilities.

Auto generally prefers Cloud first, then BYOK, then local fallback when needed.

API keys (BYOK) settings

  • AI profiles (Ask AI): supports provider presets and custom endpoint/model.
  • Embedding profiles (semantic search): currently OpenAI-compatible profile format.
  • Saving a profile as active makes it the default profile used by that capability.
